Kind of a nightmare, a huge container of snaps came crashing down when I was trying to get something out of my closet. Snaps were in all of our shoes, down my shirt, under guitars, and they flew out of the closet and under furniture.

We went to the zoo and Bean took some pictures

Wednesday after ballet, I decided to drive the kids up to the zoo and make use of our year long membership we bought on Bean’s birthday. I told the kids ahead of time we would do this and Bean insisted on bringing her little wooden camera.

Me: You don’t need to bring your camera, I will let you take some pictures with my phone if you want.
Bean: No, I want to bring my very own camera to take pictures of all the animals.

She looked like the ultimate little tourist. It was so adorable!

I did let her take some photos with my phone and she actually did a pretty good job!

In one case she took a better photo than me, in part because her stature creates a different perspective.

A photo shoot is born

“Mama, can we put on my holiday dresses and take some pictures with Lanie in her holiday dress in front of the Christmas tree, please?”

Of course my darling.

I mean, really, how can I say no to such a request? Or her cute little cheery voice? I cannot I tell you.

The difference photo processing makes

By now all of our Christmas cards should be out. So I just wanted to do a little post sharing our photo and giving kudos to our friend John just like every other year. 🙂

This year I actually took our photo! It happened sort of randomly while I was doing Sparrow’s 4 month shoot. I got the other kids in like I usually do and started clicking away. I put them on our big dark leather couch, got down on their level and tried to get them to all look at me. Bean was doing the crazy-pants faces, but at one point the other two just looked cute and I decided I had a really good shot of them all. So good that I decided not to share it with anyone and not on the blog, except to text it over to John and let him know that if he was too busy this year I had the back up. John said he probably couldn’t beat my shot and then said he would process the photo to make it look all pro.

Before:

After:

Amazing, right?

I so want to learn how to do this. But since I can barely keep up with my blog these days, that will have to wait. Until then, glad I have amazingly talented and good friends. Thanks John!

And Merry Christmas to everyone we couldn’t get a card to this year. Hope you understand.

P.S. Hire John to do your family, wedding, etc. photos. He’s really awesome!

Sparrow is 4 months old

We’re late. This was supposed to be done on the 25th, but Disneyland and travel and Thanksgiving happened. We just love this sweet little guy. Still has some of his newbornishness. Two teeth poking through on the bottom. Teething has been pretty rough. Eyes are still grey-blue for now. Long and lean instead of short and squat like his siblings. Most of his 3-6 month clothes fit him everywhere except his long legs. Has his papa’s big ears. We get a mix of comments of who he looks like from Stephen’s dad, to me, to Stephen, to Ethan. Is not a big laugher like his big brother, it takes a lot of work even to get a little giggle out of him. Loves to watch his siblings.
